Projects

Projects are the primary mode of inquiry within EVVA Antoniou Studio.

Each begins with a question rather than a predetermined outcome, using design as a method of investigation. Some evolve into physical objects, publications or exhibitions; others remain as research, prototypes or ongoing studies.

Together, they form an expanding body of work exploring the relationships between material, form, place and human experience.

001 — Timby

An early investigation into material, structure and wearable objects

Timby began as an experiment in translating architectural model-making into objects for the body.

Working initially with balsa wood, the project explored how simple forms could be assembled, layered and tested as wearable objects. Early prototypes were worn and tested through everyday use, allowing questions of strength, movement, scale and durability to directly influence the development of the work.

The project eventually evolved towards metal, introducing a new relationship between organic material qualities and structural permanence.

002 — Objects of Form

An ongoing exploration of sculptural objects through geometry and material

Objects of Form develops the questions first encountered through Timby into a broader investigation of abstract geometry, sculptural form and the relationship between objects and the body.

The project explores how architectural principles such as proportion, mass, void, balance and structure can be translated into small-scale objects with physical and emotional presence.

The initial phase focuses on experimentation through clay, paper, wax and other model-making materials before moving towards silver and other durable materials.
